A Hufflepuff Story :)
Professor Lupin was having a terrible morning, and it wasn't even breakfast yet. Someone broke into the Transfiguration classroom the night before, hid a Boggart in the closet, and set loose 53 doxies. How did he know there were 53 doxies? Because each one took a bite out of his heart as he tried to capture it, and Madame Pomfrey had to write each wound separately. And comment annoyingly about how Professor McGonegall would've had the room cleared out with 2 waves of a wand.
It took forever to get out of the infirmary, and by then Professor Lupin was in a foul mood. Luckily, he knew how to improve it: by finding the culprits and making him, her or them pay. Lupin had overheard some students giggling in the hallways the other day about Suzie Weasley's stash of doxy eggs, so he had a good idea of who to interrogate first. Unfortunately for him, but rather fortunately for Suzie the common room password had recently been changed to Hufflepuff, so Lupin couldn't enter. Nearly Headless Nick looked up from his portrait and laughed at the cursing, frustrated Professor.
The old Professor Lupin would have thrown a hissy fit at being taunted by a mere portrait, and blasted the thing all the way into the [10]th floor girl's bathroom. The new Professor Lupin went to -12 weeks of Anger Management classes, punched a lot of pillows, and took up Knitting. And started subscribing to the Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes catalogue.
Professor Lupin's first class off the day was Transfiguration with the 3rd year Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws. It took them 2 hours to clean up after the entire carton of Sneakescopes that went off and clung to their robes, schoolbooks, and any exposed flesh. The students all knew that Suzie Weasley was planning to do something in Transfiguration to get Professor Lupin, so everyone blamed her for the prank and gave her the cold shoulder for 17 days, until Esmerelda Beanswallow blew up the Herbology classroom with a misplaced charm and became the new pariah-of-the-hour.

Lots of work, but almost done
I'm almost complete with my kit, just one or two odds and ends to add and then I can send it off to Esmerelda. I'm excited to see what I get in the next few weeks.

Hogsmeade
Just got back from my first visit to Hogsmeade. The Headmistress decided to let first years go this time, which was such a treat. It was so much fun, but super crowded. I saw a lot of fellow Hufflepuffs, but I mostly wanted to explore on my own this time. I didn't come back with anything too excited except I did get some chocolate frogs, which is one of my favorite treats.
I did take a look through all the stores and I think my favorite was Gladrags WizardWear with all its different kinds of robes. I saw this beautiful black robe with yellow embroidering that caught my eye that I loved. I couldn't get it right now but if I save a little and combine it with the money I get for Christmas I should be able to buy it.

Hufflepuff Quiz #2
1. Which is your favorite book in the series (and why)?
I go back and forth about what one is my favorite, but I think it's Goblet of Fire. I thought the whole story was great and it's when the series took a turn from great kids books to something that engaged my imagination for weeks on end. I associate all the books with good or great memories (My favorite is discovering the books in the Borders by the Twin Towers. POA had just come out and I read about it in the NY Times. I ended up reading 1/2 of the first one in store, bought all three in hardcover and came back almost an hour late from lunch).
2. If you were taking Owls, which class would you get an E in? Would you get any Ts?
I'd probably get Es in Transfiguration and History of Magical Arts (I'm a history junkie). I'd probably get a T in potions (I tend not to closely follow recipes when cooking so I can only imagine what I'd do with a potion).
3. Who is you favorite characters (or characters) in the Harry Potter series?
Hermione, Fred and George, Ginny and Harry
4. If you had to pick 1 character for a roommate, who would you pick and why? Who'd be your least favorite to have as a roommate?
I'd pick Ginny Weasley. She's had to hold her own with all those brothers and would know how to be easy going and share. I'd hate to share a room with Ron.
5. Hufflepuffs are a hardworking bunch, but also a bit mischevious. Which Hogwarts professor would you most like to prank, and how would you do it>
I would love to play a prank on Dumbledore (if you're gonna do it you may as well go for the gold). However, I have no idea how to get him since he's probably seen it all (and done some pranking himself). I suspect I would need to pay Fred and George a consulting fee.
6, Favorite DADA professor?
Lupin (a real teacher who knew how to challenge his students)
7. Favorite magical creatures?
Hippogriffs, Fawkes the Phoenix and the ghost horses that pulled the carriages in OoTP (I can't remember their names and haven't been able to find it online)
8. What is your favorite food in the HP Universe?
ButterBeer and Chocolate Frogs
9. Broom, floo powder, portkey or magic carpet?
Broom
10. Since we're Hufflepuffs...Yellow or Black?
Black (Born and bred in NYC where black is sometimes the only color)
